When you first started singing it was better for the larynx to be stable but as you become more advanced you will be able to control the larynx the way you want to. Making a yawning dopey sound will push the larynx down and allow you to go higher. This is good to use when doing vocal scales as it allows you to sing without tension.
When learning how to strengthen your voice it’s important to drink lots of water as it will help, not only because it is good for your health but it can also help with your singing. Being well hydrated means your mucous membranes can function at its best and help you hit those certain notes.
This may sound strange, but your tongue plays a bigger role than you may think. Bringing your tongue forward, making sure the tip of the tongue is touching the bottom of your teeth, will allow more airspace to help produce a more vibrant, resonating sound to your vocal. If you pull your tongue down towards your throat, this will create a deeper and darker tone to your voice.
Record yourself singing! Even if you don’t like listening to yourself this will help determine where you need improving, and it’s a brilliant way to track your progress.
